Meet the Architect
My goal as a Blended and Online Learning educator is to create technologically relevant and authentic curriculum and resources that will support educators in the gradual implementation of Blended Learning (BL) Pedagogy into their face-to-face and online classrooms. I am confident that BL, specifically Mobile Learning (ML), is the wave of the future of education, and while BL and ML are emerging pedagogies, they both present innovative possibilities for curriculum development and planning, as well as instructional practice and assessment. These pedagogies develop and support ‘anywhere, anytime’ learning via mobile devices/laptop computers and involve utilizing online tools and applications to create student-centered, personalized learning experiences that increase student control over the time, path, and pace of learning. As part of my learning journey, I'm now researching and developing resources aimed at answering the question, "How Mobile Learning Pedagogy impacts student learning in face-to-face classrooms," to fully engage with and embrace the 21st century trend of ML and BL programs in education.
In addition to my Graduate Candidacy for the Master of Educational Leadership (M.EdL) program at Vancouver Island University, I've completed a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology (2010), Bachelor of Education (2013) and an Online Teaching and Learning Graduate Diploma (2019) also from VIU.
I currently live in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I love living on the west coast and feel privileged that I can hike in old growth forests, ski and snowboard on gorgeous mountains, swim in lakes, rivers and the ocean, as well as sail around the Gulf Islands with my family.
I'm a mother of 4 wild things that periodically resemble children, as well as a charming wife. My husband and children are my bright lights and life has become a bursting-at-the-seams, full-throttle, laugh out loud, sleep deprived experiment, which has enriched every part of my being. Due, in large part, to my child wrangling, my passion for teaching and learning has continued to flourish and I truly believe in and practice, life-long learning.
